Home Remedies for Hair Growth

Hair Growth

Everyone wants to have a head full of healthy, glowing hair but unfortunately, most people battle with poor hair growth, dandruff, and other hair conditions caused by a number of factors like lifestyle, excessive use of harmful chemicals, old age, etc. This can, however, be helped by the use of natural remedies, some of which are discussed below. An added benefit is that these remedies are not in the least expensive, so you don’t have to break the bank to have a healthy hair.

Green Tea

Green tea has so many health benefits especially for the skin and the hair. Tips for Natural Beauty explains it contains antioxidants and minerals that boost hair growth. It also contains an antioxidant called EGCG (epigallocatechin-gallate) that stimulates hair growth. Green tea also has anti-inflammatory properties which help to stop hair loss and boost the growth of new hair.

To use green tea, place a used tea bag to your scalp and then leave it for an hour. Rinse after use with lukewarm water.

Avocado Oil

Avocado oil contains vitamins E and B, which strengthen and nourish the hair follicles and repair damages caused by harsh chemicals to the hair. It can be taken orally as a supplement or applied directly on the hair. To make an avocado hair mask, get a ripe avocado, combine it together with 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons honey in a small bowl, and then mix it till it’s smooth in texture.

Apply this to your hair, cover with a shower cap for about 30-35 minutes, and then rinse out with a shampoo.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice isn’t a common home remedy for hair growth. But this doesn’t change the fact that it contains antioxidants and other active ingredients that are beneficial for healthy hair. According to Organic Facts, the juice can be used as a rinse, and as a hair mask and scalp cream by blending it together with castor oil, olive oil, honey, and yoghurt. Excessive use, however, can lighten your hair.

Coconut Milk

Coconut milk has a good amount of essential nutrients required for a healthy hair. It boosts the follicles hence promoting hair growth. It also provides your hair with essential fats, potassium, and iron. The milk has excellent moisturising properties, and so can be used as a tonic for a dry and irritated scalp. It is likewise used as a leave-in conditioner or hair mask.

It is advisable to get fresh coconut milk instead of buying from a store.
