Search engine giant Google Inc has recently announced the launch of its latest product; Android TV in San Francisco, California. Android TV is an operating system for internet-connected televisions, game consoles and set-top boxes which can be controlled from a mobile phone, tablet and even wrist watches.
The Android TV will enable manufacturers to include their own hardware. Companies like Sony and Sharo have been billed to launch this feature in 2015.
The Android TV is inspired by a design that feeds music, games, and movies off of the Google Play Store and is similar to the previously launched Amazon Fire TV which is also a set-top box which allows users to play games.
Android TV will integrate live television from cable and allow access to internet-connected applications like Netflix. Also, to download movies a viewer can press “home” on the smartphone or remote. All that is needed is a touch screen and a microphone for voice commands and search.
The android TV supports gaming on a multi-player level and it wouldn’t matter if other players are not using the android TV but tablet or a smartphone.
Google will be helping sell more television boxes in exchange for Google products promotion and data gathering from the viewers.
Google is redefining television in the world and hopefully this attempt will be successful unlike the Nexus Q.
