The 2014 U-20 Nigeria women’s team, Super Falconets, put up a riveting performance against Korea DPR in the first semifinal of the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which ended 6-2.

Four goals from Asisat Oshoala, and one each from Courtney Dike and Uchechi Sunday, helped Nigeria secure a place in the final of the global event.

The Nigerian team began the onslaught two minutes into the game via an impressive goal from Dike, assisted by Oshoala.

Twenty two minutes later, Oshoala doubled Nigeria’s lead after exploiting a defensive error from Korea’s Song Kyong-Hui, which saw her make a public show of goalie Chol Ok, before sending the ball into an open net.

The Asians gave the Nigeria team a good fight as Ri Un Sim brilliantly reduced the goal deficit in the 34th minute.

The Koreans managed to hold off team Nigeria from scoring any further goals until the stroke of halftime, ending the half 2-1 in favor of Nigeria.

The Falconets got on the front foot early in the second half via substitute Sunday, who sent a volleying shot from 20 yards that had Kim completely beat.

Korea once again reduced the deficit after referee Margaret Domka awarded a penalty against the Africans, following Ugo Njoku’s ball handling within the Nigeria ’18.

With only a few more minutes to go before the full time while, Oshoala utterly outclassed the Asian team to grab her second, third and fourth goals before the end of the half, giving Nigeria a 4 goal lead against Korea DPR.

Although the Koreans tried to pull a few goals back, they were grossly unsuccessful in their attempt to return parity to the game, ending the match 6-2 in favor of Nigeria.
