The GE Lagos Garage is Now Open for Applications

General Electric (GE) is offering Nigerian entrepreneurs the opportunity to get up to speed with some of the newest technologies in manufacturing, while working with world-class experts and instructors.

The GE Garage, a program which was started in the United States by the American industrial giant in 2012, aims to awaken the passion for innovation and manufacturing in young people and equip budding entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need to be relevant and effective workers in today’s world. In 2014, the program was extended beyond the borders of the United States, with a fabrication lab at GE’s regional headquarters in Lagos serving as the venue for a three-week workshop.

Now, GE is relaunching the Lagos Garage, and inviting bright young Nigerians to take part in it. The program will run for a month; participants will get to work with seasoned first rate technical experts and investors, gain valuable experience in teamwork and creative problem solving, and “bring their wildest ideas to life”. They will also learn to use advanced hardware and familiarize themselves with the latest tools in manufacturing technology- including 3D printers and Laser cutters. The Garage offers access to a strong mentorship network (one which GE describes as “Nigeria’s greatest”) to help make promising talents into drivers of industrial growth.

The GE Garage program will take place from November 14-December 9, 2016. The deadline for the submission of applications is midnight, November 1, 2016.
