Legendary musician, Femi Kuti, who is the son of late music legend and king of Afrobeats Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is nominated alongside his son Made Kuti for the Best Global Music Album category of the awards set to hold on January 31, 2022, at the Microsoft theatre. Femi and Made’s Legacy+ album earned them a nomination for the prize. However, they will have to jostle for the prize against another Nigerian act Wizkid. Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album which has recorded huge success and saw the ‘Joro’ crooner successfully tour the globe in 2021, earned him a nomination for the Best Global Music Album category.

It is the first time Wizkid is getting a personal nomination for a Grammy prize, while it is the fifth time Femi Kuti has bagged a nomination for the award. It is also Made Kuti’s first time in the Grammys as he toes the path of his grandfather and father in the music industry.
