  Nigerian singer Wizkid has been nominated for two Grammy Awards prizes. The 64th edition of the global awards is scheduled to hold on January 31, 2022, at the Microsoft Theatre, and the highly-rated African act, according to the announcement of nominations for 86 categories of the award by the Recording Academy on Tuesday, November 23, is jostling for two plaques.

The ‘Joro’ crooner is nominated for the Best Global Music Album and the Best Global Music Performance as he is set to end a successful 2021 in grand style. Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album got him the nomination for the Best Global Music Album category which was won by Burna Boy in 2020, while his hit single ‘Essence’ featuring fellow Nigerian singer, Tems, earned him another nomination for the Best Global Music Performance Award.

During the 63rd edition of the Grammys, Wizkid’s collaboration with Beyonce ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ a track of the songstress’ 2019 The Lion King Album won a Grammy, but there have been arguments regarding Wizkid’s status as a Grammy Award winner because he doesn’t own the track. A win this time will end every debate. For over a decade, Wizkid has established himself as one of the leading African artistes in the global space. The singer who is also popular as ‘Starboy’ has collaborated with A-list stars in the American music industry such as Beyonce and Drake in the past.
