FCMB Collaborates to Support Youth Empowerment Projects

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has recently collaborated with Enactus Challenge to organise a youth empowerment programme in Lagos which brought together 35 tertiary institutions nationwide for a national competition. In the past six months, FCMB has supported projects in states such as Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto and Rivers State. The Enactus Challenge is a global initiative, established to harness and celebrate dexterity and the innovative ideas of young people, students in particular. During the competition, the students presented various initiatives and projects which they executed in their host communities nationwide. The participating students formed teams in their university campuses and applied business concepts to develop these projects that could improve quality of life and standard of living, the statement revealed. FCMB’s Group Head, Marketing and Communications, Mr. Ikechukwu Kalu said the bank’s support and sponsorship of the competition was part of its contribution towards encouraging students and youths to discover their potential and align their initiatives with visible projects. Over 900 women and young people have been empowered with viable skills that helped them earn a living, a statement from the bank explained. Ekiti State University, which made its seventh appearance at this year’s competition, won the trophy by presenting a mat weaving project tagged Eni-Riran.
