Experience the Power of Small Goals This Year!

One reason why many people set goals but fail to achieve them is that their goals are so big they’re unnerved. Where do I begin? When they eventually decide to “start from somewhere” they take a few steps and fall on their faces. This is why understanding the power of small goals often makes the difference between people who succeed and people who do not.

One huge goal can seem daunting, but breaking it down into several small goals, not only gets it accomplished but provides great satisfaction along the way.

Another way to look at it is the power of today. What will you do today to move one step closer to achieving your goal?

You want to write a book in 2017

You want to lose weight in 2017

You want clearer, healthier skin in 2017

You want to get out of debt in 2017

You want a more profitable business in 2017

You want a more fulfilling marriage in 2017

You want better grades in 2017

That’s all well and good. What will you do today, and every day, to reach your goal? Will you write one page a day? Buy a pedometer to help you walk more every day? Drink one more litre of water daily than you currently do? Set a fee for a service you’ve been rendering for free in order to earn more income? Replace an hour of TV viewing with studying a chapter of your textbook daily?

Write down your major goal, and write down the small ones too. You can even get a calendar to mark each day as you complete your daily task.

The great thing about breaking major goals into small goals is that ensures progress, and it also gives you that feeling of satisfaction over your progress. You’re ticking and crossing off items on your goals list every day and that not only has you moving closer to your goal, you’re feeling like a boss while at it! The small daily wins boost your morale and keep you inspired and motivated on your way to the big one.

A quote I love comes to mind: “A small daily task, if it be really daily, will beat the labours of a spasmodic Hercules.” – Anthony Trollope

Write down your small goals today, and flourish!
