DIY: How to Make Homemade Chocolate

Homemade Chocolate

Welcome to another DIY Wednesday. I know you’d be tired of waiting already. Take a chill pill. Today, we’re going to learn how to make a very popular dessert or candy, and it promises to be exciting. I mean chocolate!

Chocolate has been given many accolades and it has become so popular that some say it’s irresistible. It’s no surprise if you or someone you love loves chocolate and surprisingly, they can be very healthy.

Chocolate amongst its many benefits has been generally seen as a commodity candy. Because of its commonness, chocolate is easily found in various shopping outlets and local stores around but the store-bought kinds are filled with lots of unhealthy ingredients.

Great news- you can simply make healthier chocolate at home using a few simple ingredients. Nothing can be compared to homemade desserts like chocolate because of its healthy, sumptuous and rich quality.

You don’t need special equipment or ingredients in your kitchen to create a delicious chocolate.

How to Make:

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. Place the water in a pot and heat it until it simmers. Keep it below boiling.
  2. Combine the cocoa powder and softened butter in a bowl. Cream together until you have a smooth paste. (Use a fork, food processor, or even an immersion blender to eliminate lumps).
  3. Add the cocoa powder mix to the hot water and stir.
  4. Allow the temperature to rise back up. Again, it should be hot but not boiling.
  5. Pour the hot mixture into a bowl.
  6. Sift the granulated sugar in a separate bowl. (Eliminate as many clumps as you can).
  7. Combine the syrup, sugar and salt. Stir mixture into the hot cocoa mix.
  8. Pour in milk slowly while stirring thoroughly to remove any lumps.
  9. Pour the mixture in thin layers across the bottoms of various containers according to the desired shape.
  10. Harden overnight in the refrigerator or freezer.

For a chocolate to be termed healthy or not, how it’s processed and the ingredients contained in it is of utmost relevance. Making it yourself is preferable as you’re in charge of what goes into your own chocolate bar.

Having known how to DIY, you probably should say goodbye to expensive store-bought chocolates. It’s time to create.

Note: The higher the cocoa powder ratio, the healthier it becomes. Also, using alternative syrups like maple syrup as a sweetener is also healthier than using sugar.
