Dangote Cement, Africa’s biggest cement manufacturer, has announced it will complete five cement plants spread across the continent this year.
The organisation revealed that the plants, currently at different stages of construction, will increase productive output by 13.5 million metric tonnes of cement per year when completed.
Dangote is currently working on completing the third and fourth production lines at the 6 million metric tonnes per annum plant in Ibese, Ogun State. The company explained that the plan is to increase the production capacity of the plant in Ibese to 12 million metric tonnes per annum.
Besides the construction of manufacturing plants across the continent, Dangote Group, the parent company to Dangote Cement and other companies within the group, explained that its core focus remains the same, which is to provide services that will create employment opportunities for citizens.
“We will continue to encourage other investors to ensure that Nigeria becomes a self-sufficient industrial giant rather than a leader in importation,” Aliko Dangote, chairman of the group, explained.
