It’s one thing to find an internship slot for students; it’s quite another to get to choose one from a host of top quality options. The first case is a difficult one to realize. The second is, for most students, the stuff of daydreams. On the other hand, many employers have resigned themselves to the idea that getting young, smart and purpose-driven interns to take up their trainee positions is always going to be a struggle. There’s a gap: determined and brilliant students can’t find top quality companies, and these companies can’t find their kind of candidates.
In 2015, Jobyina.com was founded. Operating from its base in Lagos, the tech startup serves as a bridging platform which links prospective interns to job placements from across Nigeria. Jobyina also works with organizations to fill their vacancies with students, graduates and job seekers who meet their criteria. Its founders say they aim to become “a national and international authority in online internship mediation in Africa.”
Jobyina makes it easy for people seeking short term jobs, freelance, graduate assignment, internship and trainee positions to find them. Candidates can find and apply for their preferred job by browsing the site’s listings from sectors ranging from pharmacy and medicine to surveying and construction, and submit their resumes. They can do this using their mobile devices or desktops. Employers also post vacancies for free- this means they’re able to place requests for as many interns as they want. Companies can also select from the applications submitted, with the knowledge that the applicants are more likely to have made the choice to apply from an informed position- because Jobyina gives them the information.
Jobyina has its office at Protech House, Obanlearo Ketu, Lagos. For enquiries, call them on +234 (0)803 4597 289, or send an email to info@jobyina.com.
