Founded by the famous fashion designer Deola Ade-Ojo, House of Deola was incorporated as Deola Sagoe in 2003. This happened just as Deola was beginning to be recognized across the globe as an emerging representative of the modern African fashion industry. The company has grown over the years and has exerted its influence across its home continent. It is now a world leader in the fusion of indigenous and modern wares. The collections available from House of Deola include the Komole Collection (first launched in 2012), which consists of the Komole Candids 1 and 2; the Wings Collection (from 2014); and the Tropical Galactica 01. The Komole Candids Series 2 and the Wings Collection both have a cultural style that tilts in the universal direction. Tropical Galactica and Komole Candids Series 1 have a more traditional look. These collections comprise multiple cuts. They are all displayed on the company’s website. House of Deola also has a bridal wear service, which caters to brides, bridesmaids, mothers and in-laws. Celebrants can order garments that are designed just for each individual, tailored to fit their bodies. Anyone who wants this service can book a consultation with the company’s representative and have their requirements noted in the lead-up to having their wares created.

Deola Ade-Ojo (who set up House of Deola) first became involved in the fashion business when she joined her mother’s business, Odua Creations, in 1988. In her time at the establishment, she honed her skills and built competence in the transformation of diverse fabrics into stylish but comfortable garb. While still at Odua, her work began to attract the attention of the fashion-loving public. Her first major breakthrough on the international stage was getting featured at the MNET Face of Africa in 1998. Two years later, she won the MNET Anglo Gold African Design Award in New York. In 2001, she was named on the African Almanac scale of the 100 most influential Africans in the world. And in 2004, she became the first black woman to showcase a collection at the AltaRoma fashion week in Rome.
