The publishing industry in Nigeria has gone through several ups and downs over the years. Factors such as economic booms and busts and fluctuations in the public’s reading culture determine the degree to which businesses in the space are able to thrive. But through it all, institutions like Diamond Publications have stood firm, and have gained the trust of readers and authors alike. Diamond Publications was established in 1989. This makes it one of the oldest continually operational publishing organizations in Nigeria. It began by putting out a small collection of texts and has expanded its offerings over time. Today, it boasts several dozen titles, many of which it has developed for individual and institutional clients. Contract publishing is a major part of what Diamond Publications does. It has worked with a diverse client base to commission titles for such clients as the Nigerian Guild of Editors, the United Nations Population Fund, and the News Agency of Nigeria. It has also consulted for the Federal Ministry of Information.
