If you know anyone who has an autistic child, then you’ll be glad to pass some good news on to them! Kids Consult Lekki, which supports children with autism spectrum disorders, offers intervention and support, is set to host its 1st Autism Awareness Campaign/Workshop, with the help of Autism specialists from the United States.
Kids Consult Lekki is an educational centre which offers unique educational and tutoring services dedicated to results and success. Since inception in 2007, Kids Consult has contributed to the development of Nigerian Education through facilitation of workshops for teachers and educationists both home and abroad.
The Consult comprises of seasoned educationists and professors of Education who are involved in tutoring for Secondary School entrance exams and school placement consulting in Nigeria. All its consultants support children with developmental disabilities and promote awareness about the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This year, Kids Consult Lekki proudly presents its Autism Awareness Campaign/Workshop titled “Autism as a disorder in the 21st Century – Manifestations and Interventions” and “Teachers and Parents as Agents of Change”. The event is scheduled to take place at the Pan African University, Victoria Island on the 6th of July 2013. The workshop and training is for parents, teachers, educationists and proprietors of schools as well as caretakers of autistic children. It is designed to promote advanced care and learning techniques and will feature professionals from the best ASD institutions in the United States of America and Nigeria.
Ms. Maryanne Maduekwe, Director of Kids Consult Lekki and a seasoned educationist strongly believes that the Autism workshop/training will impact the Nigerian Educational System on all levels. The workshop is intended to offer an encouraging picture to parents who believe that there is little hope for their autistic child ever living the kind of life that they would hope for. It will also reawaken national consciousness to the scourge of autism and encourage support for people living with Autism.
One of Kids Consult’s autism specialists, Dr M. Biakolo (PhD, Special Needs Education), has stressed the need for the public to have an awareness of autism in order to identify the initial signs and symptoms of autism in children.
Associate Professor A. Maduekwe, a member of the board of Directors, has also stated that so much can be done to bring out the best in autistic children, using low to high contact and engagement techniques. Kids Consult is committed to offering support for all autistic children and their parents. Share the good news, and offer hope to an autistic child today!
