The program is part of the bank’s role of building the capacity of Nigeria’s MSMEs and enabling them to sustain and scale their operations. This is in addition to the funding and risk-sharing facilities that the institution extends to small businesses in the country. The DBN Entrepreneurship Training Program 2021 aims to imbue MSMEs with the skills and competencies they need to succeed in Nigeria’s business landscape and make them prepared to receive financial support from formal funding sources. The program is organised in partnership with Google, Enterprise Development Center (EDC), Pan Atlantic University, and Wider Perspectives Limited (WPL).

How The Program Will Unfold
The program will be divided into two stages (online and face-to-face training) and will last three months. About 1,000 MSMEs will be selected to take a course, Fundamentals of Digital Marketing, which will be self-paced. The first 250 participants who complete the fundamentals course will attend live instructor-led web sessions organized by Google Nigeria. Following this, the best 200 MSMEs will get to attend face-to-face training in Lagos or Abuja. After the training, selected MSMEs will attend a pitching session, in which they will pitch to secure funding for their business. At the end of the program, a certificate of completion will be presented to every MSME that attended the face-to-face training.
Eligibility
Applicants should meet the following conditions:- The business owner must be at least 18 years old
- They must be a legal citizen resident in Nigeria
- The business must be registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
- It should be a for-profit business from any sector
Application
Applicants are required to fill and submit an application form online. A receipt confirming registration will be sent via email to the applicants within 24 hours. After the application process ends, applicants will be screened based on various selection criteria. Successful applicants will be informed of their selection via email, between August 16 and 20.Applications will remain open until August 1.
