Uduak Isong Oguamanam’s highly anticipated romance movie,
Falling has been described as the “Love Story of the Year.” The trailer said so, the posters said so, and so did the cast and crew. Well, we finally had a chance to see the movie for the first time on Friday, 18th September, 2015 at the Silverbird cinema, Victoria Island, Lagos and I must admit, it is indeed the love story of the year! Here are 7 reasons – in no particular order – I am endorsing this movie and urging you to see it as well.
1. The chemistry between the lead actress (Adesua Etomi) and lead actor (Kunle Rhemmy) is electrifying. I can’t even describe it – the chemistry was just yummy; from the look in their eyes to the fact that their body sizes just fit (don’t ask me what that means. I just know these things. Lol ) … in fact everything.
2. The plot is simple yet thought-provoking. It leaves you thinking about how long you can hold out for a loved one in the face of daunting challenges. From the start to the end of the movie, Uduak kept that question relevant and in your face. Hmmm … when the test of love comes, may we be found brave.
3. You’ll laugh in one scene – thanks to Papa (Kofi Adjorlolo) and his antics with his young girlfriend, – scream in the next and cry in the next scene. Uduak created a roller coaster of emotions that’ll leave you breathless and smiling at the same time.
4. There is one particular hospital scene that will give you goose bumps. You’ll want to reach into the screen and just hold Muna (Adesua Etomi) while she screams at her comatose husband to wake up. Her grief was so palpable. Guys, she is an amazing actress and one to look out for in Nollywood.
5. The cinematography is beyond awesome. The movie had perfect locations and great lighting.
6. You’ll relate with the cast in a way you never anticipated. No villain, no hero; just three people living their lives the best way they know how – complications and all – and falling in love on the way.
7. The end was beautifully crafted – with just the right dose of mushiness. I absolutely love happy endings so this was a bonus for me. The fact that there was no scene of Dr. Femi (Blossom Chukwujekwu) depressed and drinking alcohol on the floor in his living room or in a bar – a terrible cliché Nollywood must get rid of, I must add – deserves kudos.
P.S: You are likely to say “Awww” at the end of this movie.
Summary: The movie is what its trailer promised and more. It is a must-watch for lovers, families and friends. If you don’t love your boo the way Muna loved Imoh, you might want to reconsider the relationship oh (just kidding). Go and see it for yourself!
