PitchAgriHack is currently receiving applications from businesses that are developing technology-driven solutions to challenges faced by players in the agricultural sector. It invites AgriTech startups from across Africa at various stages of growth to enter its competition, in which winners will receive cash prizes.
Generation Africa, a platform of the AGRF, will host the competition. The contest is sponsored by Heifer International, a global non-profit that’s working to end poverty in developing countries by supporting local agriculture.
How The Program Will Unfold
The competition consists of four categories, including three open segments and one invite-only category. The open segments are for:
- Early stage startups
- Growth Stage/Mature companies
- Women-led businesses
Winners from these categories will win prizes totalling $45,000
The fourth invite–only category, called the AYuTe Challenge, will provide grants of up to $1.5 million to businesses that are already making a significant impact on smallholder farmers in Africa.
The competition’s organizers will select six winners from the open category and two from the invite–only segment. They will announce the winners at the AGRF Summit, which will take place from September 5-9 in Kigali, Rwanda.
Register to attend the Connect Nigeria Business Mixer
Winners will also receive support that’ll help them scale their enterprise.
Additional Benefits
Finalists will have their business profiles published in a Deal Book that will be circulated online and at the AGRF. Generation Africa’s web platform will also make these profiles public and enable the businesses concerned to get exposure to an investor community.
Applications for this competition will remain open until July 29, 2022.
