Nigeria has been pitched alongside 2019 hosts, Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau in the Group D of the tournament. The Super Eagles will commence their campaign in an expected tough encounter against the Pharaohs of Egypt on January 11, 2022, a match that will undoubtedly play a huge role in the confidence of both sides in the competition. Amuneke who won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia as part of a team that has been considered Nigeria’s Golden Generation, has charged the three-time African champions not to underrate any team when hostilities commence in Cameroon.

The FIFA Under-17 World Cup-winning Nigerian coach urged the Gernot Rohr led Eagles to take each game as a final as they progress in the biggest football event in the African continent.
“On paper, the Super Eagles look pretty good to qualify from a group that consists of Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau based on the calibre of players we have at our disposal. I really believe the team can make Nigeria proud if they remain focused and determined as they progress from one stage to another.” Emmanuel Amuneke
