New Super Eagles assistant coach, Joseph Yobo, has expressed delight at being appointed to join the national team’s technical crew. Yobo’s appointment took immediate effect after the Nigeria Football Federation announced on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, that the former Super Eagles captain will be replacing Imama Amapakabo in the national team’s bench. The former Olympique Marseille of France and Everton FC of England defender is looking forward to his new role and feels honoured to be given the opportunity to stand in the Eagles touchlines.

After garnering 101 caps for the three-time African champions which saw him captain the Eagles to a triumphant outing in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, and a second round finish at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Yobo called time on his international career.
