The present World Cup which has produced over 100 goals already is arguably going down as the best World Cup ever. Tomorrow at exactly 5pm Nigerian time, Nigeria will face the Albiceleste of Argentina in a group winner match.
A draw for the Super Eagles will be enough to guarantee a second round place regardless of the outcome between Bosnia Herzegovina and Iran.
Nigeria’s coach Stephen Keshi has revealed that he is targeting victory in the Super Eagles final Group F clash with Argentina on Wednesday.
Even a loss against the South American opponents would be adequate for the African champions to progress to the next round, provided that Iran do not get a victory against already eliminated Bosnia Herzegovina.
‘’We can win, of course. Let’s get the win, let’s try to be the group leader. We defeated Bosnia, we played a good game, and we can get another win.
‘’I never think about losing. We know we can qualify even in defeat, but I do not think about it.
‘’If I lose, I’ll have to pray for Bosnia to get points from Iran and I do not need to do that. I have to prepare my team to win.’’ Keshi said.
The Super Eagles arrived in Porto Alegre, the venue of the meeting with the Albicelestes, on Monday afternoon and will have a short rest before leaving for the Arena do Grêmio for a workout.
The Super Eagles have never beaten Argentina, not even in three previous meetings at the World Cup.
With Messi, four-time World Footballer of the Year recipient attempting to score against the Super Eagles for the very first time after 3 meetings, Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama will definitely be geared up for the challenge once again.
