World Athletics Championship: Ese Brume Wins Silver

Brume added another Silver to her athletic resume after leaping an impressive 7.02 metres in Oregon.

While Nigerians trooped online and offline to celebrate the 100m hurdles gold medal won by Tobi Amusan in the World Athletics Championship in Eugene, Oregon, long jump specialist Ese Brume, also gave Nigerians something to celebrate shortly after by clinching silver in the women’s long jump event at the global showpiece.

A 7.02m leap from Ese Brume saw her improve on her bronze finish at the previous edition of the event. Germany’s MalaikaMihambo who beat Ese Brume to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics gold would continue her dominance on the world stage in Oregon with a 7.12-metre leap in the early hours of Monday, July 25, 2022 (WAT) to win gold. Leticia Oro Melo of Brazil finished third with a 6.98m leap.

President Buhari also took out time to hail Ese Brume for making the nation proud and hailed Team Nigeria for representing the nation with honour, pride, courage, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
