The Super Eagles of Nigeria have come one step closer to the 2014 World Cup by defeating the Harambee Stars of Kenya 1-0 in Nairobi on Wednesday, while their closest rivals, Malawi were held to a goal less draw by Namibia.
Ahmed Musa, who just won the Russian domestic double with his club CSKA Moscow, scored the lone goal of the game, sending Nigeria to the acme of Group F standings, now having two points more than Malawi with two rounds of matches remaining.
Musa scored in the 80th minute of the game, racing on to a through ball from Efe Ambrose before looping the ball past on-rushing Kenyan goalie, Duncan Ochieng to earn Nigeria an important win.
Malawi and Nigeria advance to round 4 matches level on points with Nigeria leading the Flames of Malawi on goals scored.
Nigeria will progress to the next stage of qualification next Wednesday if they beat Namibia and Malawi fail to beat Kenya, who are at the foot of the table with just two points.
