SWANSEA CITY 1-0 NEWCASTLE
Fresh from their 5-nil thumping of League One side, Bradford City, in the Capital One Cup, Swansea City showed no signs of hangover as they beat Newcastle to confirm their top flight status.
Shola Ameobi was brought on for Chekih Tiote in the 90th minute; there was little or no time for him to have an impact.
CHELSEA 1-0 WEST BROM
John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Osaze Odemwingie were all second half substitutes for their respective teams.
French striker, Marc Antoine Fortune was subbed in the 62nd minute for Osaze before Moses got into the fray in the 80th minute for Eden Hazard. Mikel joined the action in the 90th minute, coming on for the Spanish imp, Juan Mata.
Senegalese striker, Demba Ba scored the only goal of the game.
EVERTON 3-1 READING
Hope Akpan played all 90 minutes yet again on his return to Goodison Park, where he started his career while Victor Anichebe started the game from the substitutes’ bench, coming on in the 74th minute for Turkish-born English international, Leon Osman.
Everton ran out 3-1 winners, with goals from Belgians, Marouane Fellaini and Kevin Mirallas. South African playmaker Steve Pienaar scored the goal of the game.
Hal Robson-Kanu scored a consolation goal for the Royals.
SOUTHAMPTON 1-2 QPR
Nedum Onuoha was an unused substitute as QPR got their third win of the season against Saints at the St. Mary Stadium.
Rangers got the game rolling through French striker, Loic Remy, who got onto a through ball before finding the net.
Gaston Ramirez equalised for the Home side with a delicate chip after Julio Cesar spilled Jay Rodriguez shot.
Jay Bothroyd made sure of the points when he passed the ball into an empty net after a good play on the right by Ji Sung Park.
