Shola Ameobi came on as a substitute in the second half as Newcastle searched for an equaliser.
Gareth Bale continued his impressive form in front of goal, scoring a brace to give his side the win.
SWANSEA 4-1 QPR
Nedum Onuoha started the game for the strugglers, QPR but couldn’t prevent his side from going four goals down against Swansea.
Michu, Rangel and Pablo Hernandez scored for the Welsh side.
STOKE 2-1 READING
Hope Akpan started in midfield for Brian McDermott’s side. The young midfielder played all 90 minutes in their defeat to Stoke City.
MAN UTD 2-0 EVERTON
Victor Anichebe started the game but was substituted in the second half for Nikica Jelavic as Man United ran out two-nil winners via Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie. Ryan Giggs has now scored in every Premier League season since its inception in 1992.
CHELSEA 4-1 WIGAN
Chelsea dismantled Wigan at Stamford Bridge on Saturday with Ramires, Hazard, Lampard and Marin getting on the score sheet. Chelsea will welcome back their Nigerian duo, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses, from their AFCON triumph, for their next Premier League match.
