Nigerian striker, Victor Anichebe was an 81st minute substitute for Everton in their 2-all draw against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, replacing his mercurial captain, Phil Neville as his team searched for an equaliser which they finally got via a Leighton Baines’ 87th minute penalty. Nikica Jelavic scored the first for Everton while Arouna Kone and Franco Di Santo scored Wigan’s two goals.
Peter Osaze Odemwigie returned to match action after serving his three game match ban on Saturday against the heavy spenders, Queens Park Rangers at the Hawthorns and was replaced in the second half by Swedish striker, Mark Rosenborg. Adel Taarabt scored his second goal for QPR in a week. James Morrison, Zoltan Gera and Youssouf Mulumbu all scored for West Brom as they ran out 3-2 winners. Esteban Granero added a late consolation goal for the visitors.
John Mikel Obi started Chelsea’s game against Norwich City and was replaced in the 82nd minute by Oriol Romeu. Victor Moses didn’t play any part in the game as he was an unused substitute. Chelsea won the game 4-1 courtesy of goals from Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic. Grant Holt scored Norwich’s lone goal.
Shola Ameobi came on as a substitute in the second half of Newcastle United’s game against Manchester United at Sports Direct Arena on Sunday but it wasn’t enough as they lost comprehensively to the Red Devils. Defenders, Johnny Evans and Patrice Evra scored from corner kicks in the first half before Tom Cleverley added a beauty in the second half.
