Weekend Sports Roundup: Kamaru Usman Beats Colby To Retain UFC Title

  Nigerian Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) Kamaru Usman made the waves over the weekend after beating Colby Covington by unanimous decision to retain his UFC welterweight title at UFC 268 on Saturday, November 6, 2021, in New York. The win improved Usman’s tally to 20-1-0 as he has emerged victorious in his last 19 fights including five title defences.

Nigerian women’s national football team captain Asisat Oshoala maintained her superb form for FC Barcelona Femini in the Spanish league on Saturday after scoring in their 3-0 win over Eibar. Oshoala’s goal took her tally for the season to 10 goals in eight league appearances so far. Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Cyriel Dessers also maintained his brilliant form for Dutch Eredivise side Feyenoord after coming off the bench again to gift them another 1-0 late win against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, November 7. Dessers was introduced in the 82nd minute of the game and scored in the 92nd minute to grab the win.

In Scotland, Joe Aribo scored his third league goal for Rangers and provided an assist in their 4-2 comeback win against Ross County in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday. So far, Aribo has scored thrice and assisted three in 13 league appearances for Rangers this season(2021/2022).
