Coach of Nigerian Premier Football League giants, Enyimba FC, Usman Abd’allah, has assured fans of the People’s Elephant that the club will not underrate their opponents in the Play-off round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Nigerian League champions were drawn against South African side TS Galaxy during the 9th October CAF draws for the competition. Although the Rockets are debutants for the continental showpiece, Abd’allah insisted that they will not be taken lightly when both sides square-off in the two-legged encounter.
I don’t think it really matters if they [TS Galaxy] are in the second division because they are Cup winners… So, they must have beaten big teams to become the Cup winners and I’m not going to take anything for granted. We are not taking anything for granted, we are going to treat any team as one of the best teams.
Usman Abd’allah
The Aba-based club failed in their bid to secure a third CAF Champions League crown after a 1-0 loss to Al Hilal of Sudan, but Abd’allah has noted that his team are now fully focused on Confederations Cup.
Now the target is for the group stage so we are going to work and do everything possible to see that we qualify for the group stage. This is the last chance we’ll get and we are not going to let it slip away from our hands now. I think the team will be ready for that match.
Abd’allah
Enyimba will play host to the South African side on October 27, 2019, before travelling to South Africa for the second-leg a week later.
