‘We Want a Fourth AFCON Title’ – Pinnick

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, says the football governing body, is focused on helping the Super Eagles claim their fourth African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title this year.

The Eagles have been denied a fourth title long enough, and the NFF is willing to do all that is required to ensure that they bring home the trophy this year.

Unlike their counterparts, the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior men’s football team, have been met with great distress at the AFCON cup, and have repeatedly failed to persist through the championships for a fourth title.

Egypt currently dominates men’s football in the continent with a record of seven AFCON titles. Cameroon has won the cup five times, while Ghana has four titles to their name.

The very big one that we do not want to miss is the AFCON title. We have won it three times but we want it for a fourth time so that we can close the gap with the likes of Egypt and Cameroon.

The target always is to emerge victorious. There are so many competitions this year and we intend to, as usual, put our best foot forward in each and every one of them.

Everything legitimate would be done to ensure the Super Eagles triumph in Egypt.” — Amaju Pinnick

The NFF boss also ensured that the body will provide the Super Falcons with all they need to excel at the France 2019 World Cup.
