Agunbiade accounted for every cent in his custody while discharging his duties at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti and was presented with a certificate which speaks highly of him. It reads:
“Meritorious service while serving as disbursing officer, comptroller department, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti from October 2019 to July 2020 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Overseas Contingency Freedom. Demonstrating superior leadership, Lieutenant Agunbiade managed the navy’s largest cash disbursing office with $45m in cash transaction accounting for approximately 70 per cent of the navy’s overseas disbursing volume. Additionally, he maintained 100 per cent accountability of $23m across six rigorous inspections and independent audit with zero discrepancies. By his unswerving determination, wise judgment and complete dedication to duty, Lieutenant Agunbiade reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.” US NavyAt Camp Lemonnier which served as the Nigerian’s duty post in Djibouti, Agunbiade worked as the US Naval officer responsible for dispersing and collecting money for the entire African region. Further, Agunbiade plays an instrumental role in America’s drive towards rebuilding its military readiness, building strong alliances, and reforming business practices aimed at supporting America’s National Defense Strategy.

After moving to the United States in 2007, the Nigerian enlisted in the American Navy as a storekeeper in 2008 and would go on to be commissioned as an officer five years later (in 2013). Reacting to his achievement, the Nigerian credited his success in the world’s most capable Naval force to lessons he learned while in Nigeria and few years spent at Lake Crystal.
