A US-based Nigerian striker, Ediomo Mbosowo, has said he is willing to make a return to service for his nation if he is called up by the country’s U-20 team, the Flying Eagles.

The young striker, who is on target for Oklahoma Energy FC 01 Boys in the United  States Youth Soccer competition, is hoping he can be the offensive player the team needs, after watching their lackluster show at the 2019 U-20 World Cup in Poland.

Although the Flying Eagles’ strikers are good, they lack the zest of international strikers and this loophole caused the Nigerian team a place in the final of the just-concluded global competition.

Mbosowo believes he can be that striker Nigeria so greatly needs.

I’ve been watching the Nigerian junior national team and I feeI I have something to contribute for the progress of the team if given the chance by the team handlers. The experience I’ve garnered playing in the United States will be of great help to the team if I’m given the chance to prove myself.

Having scored eight goals this season and helped my club to the third position in our league, I feel I’m in a position to help correct the goal drought of the U-20 national team, which I believe would have performed better at both the U-20 AFCON and the U-20 World Cup, if I were a member of that team.”

The 18-year-old, who won the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference 2019 Male Soccer Defensive Player of The Year, said although he is aware that the player selection process is sorely dependent on the coaches, he also thinks a quick look at his games and his player profile will convince the Eagles coaching crew that he is no ordinary player on the field.
