This fund is inspired by the need to reach millions of children across the world that are outside of the formal education system or those that have been marginalised in some way. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the situation with these children more pronounced, as they are often also unable to access the healthcare they need. UNICEF intends to support startups with smart, AI, ML, and data science-driven solutions that are targeted at this population. They can apply by submitting an Expression of Interest to the UNICEF Innovation Fund.

The Application Process

Companies intending to submit their application should check their eligibility for the Innovation Fund. If they are eligible, they may proceed to submit their application on the innovation fund’s website. UNICEF will review applications, and invite shortlisted companies to submit a detailed proposal. Following a review of the proposals by UNICEF, startups will be selected from this stage to participate in an online demo interview. The interview will last for 30 minutes and will involve members of the Fund team and the body’s tech experts. The Innovation Fund will review the results from all three steps from application to interview, and notify the companies it deems to have met its criteria. The deadline for applications is Monday, August 2. To apply for the UNICEF Innovation Fund, click here. Featured Image Source: Utibe Etim
