Twenty-three United Nations Agencies are committing $920 million to the provision of technical and financial assistance to Nigeria over four years, LEADERSHIP has reported.
A statement by UN Communications Group, says, “The Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Nations System in Nigeria yesterday signed a development assistance framework document that will guide the world body’s activities in the next four years, termed ‘Nigeria-United Nations Assistance Framework, – Nigeria-UNDAF III.’ The document will regulate the terms and areas of assistance of the agencies delivering as one UN from 2014 –2017.”
The Minister of National Planning, Dr. Shamsudden Usman said ofthe pledge, “The UNDAF III document is not only closely aligned with our national priorities, but has also assisted greatly in reducing the duplication of UN activities in the country, leading to a reduction in transaction costs, for both the government and the UN System”.
