Sad news filtered in this morning about the demise of our own Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey popularly known as Goldie. The cause of her death remained unknown as at the time of filing this story, leaving many speculations as to what could have killed the Big Brother Africa star.
Goldie, acknowledged by fans and colleagues alike as a strong and creative woman, earned a place in the hearts of Nigerians through her hard work and dedication. Her debut album, Gold, which was a critical success, included provocative, smart, and infectious videos, including You Know It, JawoJawo and DTMB (Don’t Touch My Body), which are now certified street anthems with increasing followership.
Throughout her career, Goldie received numerous awards including Exquisite Lady of the Year (ELOY) Best Female Artiste award and City People Best Female Artiste of the year. She was also inducted as a Federal Celebrity Special Marshal alongside other notable Nigerian celebrities. In 2012, Goldie exited the BBA7 star game house as the 3rd runner up.
Until her demise, Goldie was an ambassador of Project Alert, a world renowned not-for-profit organisation aimed at advocating zero tolerance for all forms of violence against women and young girls.
We at connectnigeria.com commiserate with the family of Ms. Harvey and with Kennis Music for this great loss.
Rest in peace Goldie, Nigeria will greatly miss you.
