In our previous article, we touched on the tourism attractions in Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Ondo, Osun, Enugu, and Oyo. Today we are continuing this piece by looking at the tourism attractions in Ogun, Delta, Lagos, FCT, and Rivers State.

Note that most of these states below are famous for more than just nature. History, recreation, and art are key reasons for visiting these places.

Ogun

We know this gateway state for its history and culture. Rumour has it that they have the highest number of private universities in Nigeria. For tourism, you get to see the famous Olumo rock in Abeokuta with its large caves and historical artifacts. There are also places like the Osuuru water spring, Ebute Oni tourist beach, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Hi-Impact Amusement park, Lisabi Sacred Forest, the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, and the Abeokuta museum to explore when you visit.

Delta

This state is the heart of the nation, and the Niger Delta to be exact. People mostly know it as an oil-producing state, but there are still some places a tourist can visit and have fun.

Some tourist attractions in delta state include Ifie Mangrove, Otuogu beach, Park Vega waterpark, Kwale Game reserve, McCarthy Beach, Nelson Mandela Garden, Abraka Turf and Country club.

Lagos

The former capital of Nigeria is still the most popular place in West Africa to visit. It has everything from commerce to entertainment as well as traffic. You can expect to see places like Jara Beach Resort, Red Door Gallery, Jaekel House, Lekki Conservation Centre, Terra Kulture, Tarkwa Bay, National Museum, ‘Ologe’ lagoon, Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park, Whispering Palms, Omu Resort, New Afrika Shrine, Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate, Shondex Gardens, Epe Resort and Epe Mangroves, etc.

FCT

The Federal Capital Territory is one of the few areas in Nigeria that follows a town plan. The Capital city of Nigeria, Abuja, is chic in The FCT and it’s full of amazing sights to see.

Some attractions to see in Abuja include Bwari Pottery Village, Jabi Lake, Mpape Crushed Rock, Thought Art Pyramid Gallery, Zuma Rock, Usuma Dam, Almat Farms, Millennium Park, National Children’s Park and Zoo, and Abuja Arts and Crafts village.

Rivers

Thanks to the efforts of the current governor, the state has gotten an upgrade with multiple overhead bridges. The aerial view of the state is impressive. Major tourist attractions include: Rivers state Cultural Centre, Biseni Forest, Port Harcourt Zoological Garden, Elechi Beach, Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, Ikuru Atlantic beach (Aka Andoni beach), Finima Nature Park and Finima beach in Bonny Island, Upper Orashi forests reserve, etc. Some states which were not on the list but are worthy of honourable mention include Cross River, Edo and Akwa Ibom State.
