After an approximate one year run with Fulham, 28-year-old Nigerian, Sone Aluko who was a forward at Craven Cottage has moved to Madejski Stadium. Aluko was signed by Reading F.C. on a four-year contract, in a deal worth about £7.5m, which is believed to be a record sum for the team. He started out with Birmingham City until July 1, 2007, and went on to play for Aberdeen in August of the same year. He also played for Blackpool, Rangers, and Hull before joining the Cottagers. Before his move to Madejski Stadium, Fulham boss, Slavisa Jokanovic, stated that “Selling Sone Aluko would be our biggest mistake yet. In this moment the only job that I can do is to fight for him …..” Obviously he lost! Reading F.C. Boss, Jaap Stam in one of his statements, gave a few reasons why he went for the Player:
“With his pace and ability on the ball, he can make life difficult for every opponent we face. He poses a threat going forward, he keeps the ball well, he can play as a striker or out on the wing and I am sure he will improve us as a squad”
We look forward to seeing Aluko make his debut appearance for the team against Bristol City on September 9 at the Madejski Stadium. Congratulations Sone Aluko! Feature Image Credit: Goal.com
