Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, will, on Friday 27th September, 2013, host Google Hangout from Mega Plaza, Victoria Island, Lagos to discuss topics on Energy and Power in the state. The Hangout is preparatory towards the state’s Energy Conservation Month, which holds throughout October. The forum, promoting the “Conserve Energy, Save Money (CESM),”campaign developed by the State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in conjunction with the Lagos State Electricity Board, will see people ask the Governor questions online and get his response on a number of issues.
According to the Ministry, “The initiative is aimed at inculcating the attitude of judicious use of energy in the residents of the state, among other things.
Speaking on the Initiative, the Lagos Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Taofiq Tijani, said, “The intent of the initiative is to bridge the gap in conversations surrounding the energy development within the state. Citizens are encouraged to log on to www.lseb.gov.ng to follow instructions on how to participate at the Google Hangout with BRF and to also follow the Governor on his Google Plus Page @ Babatunde Fashola.”
“There would also be energy conservation activations at the E-Centre, Yaba and a couple of other locations on the Island where Lagosians will have the opportunity to learn how they can calculate their energy consumption on the spot.”
He also said, “The formal commissioning of two Independent Power Plants (IPPs), the newly built 10.4 megawatts (MW) plant at Alausa, Ikeja and the Island Power Expansion Project on Lagos Island, are among significant events that will take place in the course of the special energy conservation month.”
The event will also feature Hip-hop artiste, M.I. (Jude Abaga).
