Faith without corresponding action, they say, is dead.
How can I be upbeat about electricity, healthcare and the general state of affairs in Nigeria and not be able to do something? You might ask.
The elections are about eighteen months away and you have ample time to prepare for the changes you desire. It is often said that if one fails to plan then failure would have been planned for. In the light of our civic responsibility, it behooves us not just to vote and complain but to run for elective office. The truth is you are the solution to the problems in your community. You, and no one else, are responsible. Exercising your rights to vote and/or run for elective office is how you measure up to that responsibility. We should not have to fold our hands again if Nigeria is truly the great country we have pledged our devotion of service, strength and honesty to.
The demographics are well in favour of the younger generation, 30 years and younger. For many of our youth, the Constitution will qualify you to run for seats in the Federal House of Representatives in 2015- and that’s a very big opportunity. No matter what it takes, I urge you to make an attempt at change. The truth is: you can!
I believe Nigeria is going to experience a miraculous shift in the quality of leadership as it has in the past few years, and it will start at the grassroots, on the streets, in the motor parks and in our places of worship.
You must find your political alignment. Politics takes on the character of its players. People identify politics as dirty only because of its players. I guess the average Nigerian would hold that perception. But our politics can get better if we all concern ourselves with it.
Join a party prayerfully towards the next dispensation. Nigeria needs you!
