Tip of the Day: Backing Up Contacts

Have you ever lost your phone or has your phone ever crashed and you lost numbers from so many years ago? If you have, then you know how it feels to be stumped and at a loss. The good news is, with the advent of smartphones, you can easily back up your contacts (and content of your phone). Blackberry has desktop software you can use to sync your phone with your computer; you can download it at www.blackberry.com. The newer OS (operating system) has what is called Blackberry Protect which can be downloaded from their app store. You can use this to back up your contacts to their server and download or restore when you have a new phone. Iphone has the iCloud that can be used to back up your device. You can get started at www.apple.com Android phones (they run Google software) can be synced or backed up to your Gmail account. If you don’t have one, you can get one at www.gmail.com for free. You can use this to sync your contacts when you get a new phone or change your phone. Nokia phones come with a software package called “PC Suite” which allows you to transfer a copy of your Nokia phone’s contacts via USB Cable, providing you with a backup in case you lose the phone or damage it. If you are old school, you can write down your contacts (at least the most important) for safekeeping. Take advantage of any of these, and never lose a contact again. This is your tip of the day.
