Tip of the Day: How To Optimize Device Battery Life

phone battery
Our phones come with a number of power hungry features – processors, network, GPS radios and  so on.  Even with the largest of batteries, consistently using your phone through the day for social media, camera, media playback, streaming and so on, will take a huge toll on your phone’s battery life. So, if you want to improve battery life of your smartphone, you can make use of following tips.

Turn unnecessary hardware radios off

Turn off all connections that you are not actively using – LTE, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.  Any of them you leaven can cause a considerable amount of battery drain. Use your phone’s  power control widget or control center to quickly turn off GPS (the largest power drain), NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LTE.

Don’t over-customize your home screen

Using tons of home screen widgets, dramatic wallpapers or launchers can run down your battery slow and steady style. If you use live wallpapers and the sort, you should probably deactivate them if you need to conserve your battery before your next charge.

Update your device

Most software updates come with battery optimizations. Downloading and installing these updates can bring some improvement to the general battery performance of your smartphone.

Turn Off Vibration for Notifications and Calls

Every time your phone vibrates, a small vibration motor installed on your device runs and consumes battery. You can turn off vibration if you want to optimize battery life.

Use Adaptive Brightness

Your phone’s display consumes the most battery life. One way you can reduce its effects is by using your phone in low brightness or setting it to use adaptive brightness (the screen gets brighter in bright places and dimmer in dark areas).
