Throwback Thursday: Old Nigerian Adverts.

Throwback Thursday: Old Nigerian Adverts.
I get a nostalgic feeling anytime I stumble on old commercials. Unfortunately, kids of this decade won’t know what real TV commercial feels like. The late 90’s and early 21st century saw the awesome emergence of unexpected social changes; new technologies as well as insight and perspectives to everything.  We are sure to treasure the experiences and memories that decade holds. Additionally, the late 90’s kids will also forever cherish watching television in that era-when you are excited staring at the rainbow screen of your old NTA box TV, just waiting for your favourite television programme to start. Some Nigerian commercials literally took the place of these said favourite programmes, as they were creative, educative and hilarious. We all sang and danced along to them. Currently, television Ads are not quite what they used to be, and we wonder where all the spark and inspiration of those old TV commercials have gone. Frankly, we would like to see those type of intelligent content come back on our screens. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and check out the Old Nigerian Commercials that left us glued to our television set. The time Mtn gave us an ‘Aww’ moment:  Well, Mtn are tops when it comes to adverts and it’s not surprising since they’ve been at it for a while.  We all watched in awe when they gave us the touching Ad about a couple that communicated through an earpiece because of distance. The kids telling their mom about their day and all, that was the Aww moment; everything about that Ad was just beautiful and would leave you wanting to actually be far away and have that earpiece experience. Loved the end line ‘with Mtn your world is always where you are’ Aww. Peak Milk: This Ad stole a lot of hearts no doubt, and why not? The little girl was so cute, another cute thing is the bond she shared with her family. The song itself was a sure winner, I get teary anytime I watch this Ad. Thanks to peak for giving us this memory. Royco Ad (for tasty meals you can’t resist): We obviously did enjoy this commercial so much so that it trended recently on facebook, twitter and other social platforms. It was fun and entertaining and after watching this Ad you’d  want to use Royco for your cooking and that’s what Advertisement is really all about, right? Remember the Blueband Ad?: This Commercial I’m sure stuck in our heads because of the song (blueband gives you the energy to grow) it shows a young boy growing up and the mum always packed his school flask with bread and butter, which gave him the energy to play great football and helped him grow up healthy and strong. Oh the close-up toothpaste Ad: This Ad was colourful with everyone’s 32 on display LOL.  They really didn’t have to say much, just by the girl bumping into the guy and smiling at him, they ended up dancing together. It portrayed that close-up gives a breath that makes people get close to you. Yes my Indomie noodles: We certainly can’t also forget our Indomie noodles Ad. The song alone is a winner too. Exciting Ad of Baba blue: This Ad was hilarious but still passed the message across swiftly without being a bore.  Please bring back Baba blue.
