Since it was first held in 2005, the award has aided the conduct of investigative journalism in Nigeria in areas ranging from corruption in the public and corporate spheres to human rights abuses. This year’s edition continues in this tradition. The award is open to works in these categories: television, radio, print (newspaper and magazine), photography, online, and editorial cartoons.

Eligibility
Entrants for this award should meet these conditions to be considered for it.- Should be a Nigerian reporter or team of reporters (freelance or full-time).
- Be 18 years or older.
- Published stories in print, online, or on electronic media, aimed at a Nigerian audience.
- The work should cover corruption in the public or corporate sphere, the failure of regulatory agencies, or human rights violations.
- It should demonstrate a high quality of investigative journalism and must have been the first broadcast or published between October 4, 2020, and October 3, 2021.
How To Apply
Entrants for the award should submit a synopsis of the story (a maximum of 400 words), along with a picture or portfolio. The synopsis should contain the following:- The project’s background, including the main issue and key players it covers.
- Unusual conditions faced while developing the story (if any, and including those not mentioned in the story itself), and the consequences of covering the story.
- Up-to-date Curriculum Vitae for each reporter bearing the story’s byline along with their passport photographs.
