The Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and the United States Africa Development Foundation (USADF) have partnered to fund the Design School Lagos Program. The program is built to enable Lagos residents to get trained in graphics and product design, as well as the soft skills they require to secure and succeed at a job in the technology sector. The Design School Lagos Program will also connect participants to employment opportunities, and help businesses access talent that has passed through the program.
Benefits
Persons selected for the program will benefit from it in the following ways:- They will get trained in graphics design, product design, and soft skills
- Their training will be fully funded by the program’s financers (LSETF and USADF)
- They’ll be mentored by experts in the training fields they choose
- Top-performing trainees will get internship placements at companies that require their skills
Eligibility
The program is open to people who meet these criteria:- Residents of Lagos State
- People aged between 18 and 35 years
- They must have completed post-secondary education
- They must be available for the duration of the training

The Couse Modules
These are the modules for the three courses offered as part of the Design School Lagos Program.- Product Design: Introduction to UI/UX Design, Product (UI/UX) Design using Figma, Research in Product Design, Iconography, Visual Hierarchy, Prototyping, and Handoff.
- Graphics Design: Design Elements and Principles, Design Thinking, Typography, Design Inspiration and Research, Designing Logos, Business Cards, Event Fliers, Book Covers, Movie Posters, etc.; Pictures, Gradients, and Professional Colour Schemes, and Canva Masterclass.
- Soft Skills: Emotional Intelligence, Effective Communication, Problem Solving and Critical Thinking, Building Your Project Portfolio, Monetizing Your Skills, Freelancing, Getting Your First Design Job, and Starting Your Business.
Details To Note
This program will be implemented by Nerdz Factory, a digital skills and software development training company. About 60% of the course will be conducted physically, with 40% taking place virtually. It will last for six weeks. Participants will be provided with further details. The program begins on Monday, October 25.
