The Phenomenal Women Poetry Anthology in Honour of Maya Angelou‏

Maya Angelou (April 4, 1928 – May 28, 2014) was an African-American author, poet, dancer, actress, and singer. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry and was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning more than 50 years. She received dozens of awards and over fifty honorary degrees. She was respected as a spokesperson for black people and women, and her works have been considered a defence of Black culture. Her books centre on themes such as racism, identity, family, and travel. In honour of the late Maya Angelou, entries are invited from interested persons for an unusual poetry collaboration, an anthology titled The Phenomenal Woman Poetry Collaboration’, to be released in September 2014. This is a chance for poets and writers to be involved to support youth and women development, an act which the late author was popular for. Powered by Hinovelty, this voluntary collaboration is aimed at honouring an outstanding woman who gave the world a reason to always remember her and is giving budding writers a chance to get published. Write a poem/essay in honour of Maya Angelou, Forward your entry to maphenomwoman@gmail.com with THE PHENOMENAL WOMAN as subject. Your entry must include your name and bio (not more than 30 words).
