The 5th edition of the iCreate skills Fest in collaboration with the Africa International housing show will focus on the implementation of a sustainable system that will address the challenges affecting the Skills workforce in the construction industry such as competence in service delivery, inadequate access to training, informal employment structure, irregular wage/compensation and the absence of financing for artisans. The skill fest will hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, from 4th to 6th April 2022. The objectives of the 5th edition of the skill fest include:
- Bridging the gap between government, industries, and institutions to respond to labour market needs and craft a sustainable future for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Nigeria.
- Implementing technological systems that facilitate easy access to the Non-academic segment of the labour market.
- Upskill artisans with soft skills, digital skills, and updated workplace techniques.
- Creating a system that promotes decent wages for artisans in the construction industry.
- Boosting the self-esteem and confidence of artisans, to find pleasure and dignity in their chosen career.
“Vocational education is a proven gateway to decent work, rewarding occupations, self-employment, and entrepreneurship,”.Through vocational education, the wide gap of unemployment will be bridged while social problems associated with the youths will be a thing of the past.
