Engraved in the nature of the African Amazon is her cultural heritage. If you followed the #YouKnowYourMumisNigerian, you would understand the inborn qualities of ‘ibati, ibarun, abara’ you received from her. However, there are some things you probably never took note of.
The Nigerian Lioness displays the following characteristics:
She is empowered:
“Tiny is her stature, Mighty is her roar; she is a lioness in complete control of her kingdom.”—-@tecciatorres
They have been a major outcry of gender balance. A lioness is not submissive she only allows her king to sit on his throne. A lot of people have assumed the biblical notion of submission as subservient. Not only is this an erroneous deduction of the Holy Book, it is also unfair on the part of the woman.
The beauty of the world is that women have always been empowered by nature, the act of subordination was a misconstruction accelerated by Nigerian women themselves.
Your MUM is Everyone’s Best friend!
In her pride, a lioness is comfortable enough to relate with other women. A typical Nigerian woman can famz! Even if she does not know you, once you’re in her home she can extract your bio data in a minute. This is because her home is her pride, and just like the lioness, once she discovers that another female does not have the confidence to meet and greet, she is immediately treated as an intruder.
She Provides for Her Family:
Many women are now supplementary providers. The male lion likes to hunt only when they are big kills. A typical woman knows how to mix dry pepper and palm oil to make a mountain of stew if needed. When she owes you money, she has paid back with the plates of food you ate. But you don’t dare owe her money
Your Mum Protects her Family:
Need I say much about this? A Nigerian Mother, I mean an original one, would fight any species, male or female, illness, that threatens her abode. ‘Hell hath no fury like a mother scorned’.
Her Child’s Playmate:
Arguably. Oh! Need I remind you her usual saying, “ she didn’t kill her mother, so no child can kill her”
