This fellowship gives young African students and graduates the chance to learn skills and build a mindset that will enable them to set up and run their own businesses. It will grant them access to resources, training, financial backing, and mentors. The program will take place virtually, and will last for 8 months.
Benefits
Persons who are selected to take part in the Jim Leech MasterCard Foundation Fellowship on Entrepreneurship will benefit from it in the following ways:Sign up for the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
- Attend a business Bootcamp facilitated by faculty at Queen’s University and industry experts with decades of entrepreneurship and executive-level experience
- Take part in live workshops on goal setting, marketing, and recruitment
- Engage mentors comprising entrepreneurial leaders from across North America
- Interact with global alumni of Queen’s University entrepreneurial program
- Up to 60 fellows could proceed to the final phase of the program, in which they will get a stipend of $500 CAD each
- They could pitch for prizes of up to $15,000 at the pitch competition which will happen at the end of the program

Eligibility
Applicants should meet these criteria:- Must be a student or recent graduate of a post-secondary learning institution in Africa (open to persons studying or who have studied any discipline)
- Although the program can be completed at any pace, committed participants should be willing to devote at least 10 hours per week to the program
- Attendees must be willing to adhere to deadlines set within the program
- Participants should be able to complete assignments and pitches in English or collaborate with someone who can do so
