  Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme says it is accepting applications from researchers, technology companies, and other players in Nigeria’s emerging Artificial Intelligence space. It aims to finance a selection of such teams and ventures that it deems worthy; specifically those that are contributing to the growth of the sector through their innovative solutions that are tailor-made for the Nigerian context.

Benefits

Through this program up to ₦5 million in funding will be provided to 45 AI researchers and startups that are active in agriculture, finance, healthcare, education, human resources, governance, and sustainability.

Eligibility

The Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme is open to entities that meet the following criteria:

• Should be a consortium that includes a Nigerian academic researcher or foreign researcher, startup, or technology company
• Must have a research proposal that is in line with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy’s AI priority areas
• Applicant should have a detailed proposal that outlines their project and its potential impact on Nigeria’s economy
• Have a demonstrably great track record in entrepreneurship or academia/research
• Publish at least 1 peer-reviewed article within 1 year of receiving the grant
