The competition is open for entries for the fourth time to writers for the best piece of unpublished short fiction (2,000- 5,000 words). An initiative of the commonwealth foundation, the prize is targeted at identifying talented writers with inspiring content, to develop and promote new fiction writers from across the commonwealth. Entries for the 2015 edition opened on the 15th of September and will close on the 15th of November. The prize is divided into two categories; the regional prize and the overall prize winner. The five regions are Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe, Caribbean, & The Pacific. The regional winners get £2,500 each amounting to a total of £15,000 annually. The 2014 winner was a Ugandan, Jennifer Makunbi, and in 2014 all the winners were women.
