The BRAIN 3.0 Program for African Deep Tech Startups 2024

Open Startup International is organizing the Bridging Research and Innovation (BRAIN) program for Deep Tech startups in Africa, in collaboration with the MIT Legatum Center, MIT Executive MBAs and MIT Africa. This initiative is aimed at identifying, celebrating, and supporting scientist-entrepreneurs who are leveraging deep tech to build solutions to some of Africa’s biggest concerns.

As part of the program, startups from across the continent will undergo a regional 1-week boot camp in Cairo, Egypt. They will receive tailored mentorship and support, even as they compete to be one of the finalists who will be visiting various tech ecosystems.

Eligibility

The BRAIN 3.0 program is open to teams that meet these criteria:

Startup is incorporated in Africa
Have a strong deep tech solution that’s derived from solid scientific research
The startup is in or near the MVP stage
Has a track towards Intellectual Property (IP)
Getting early deals or gaining traction
Aims to scale internationally
