Richard Mofe-Damijo, fondly called
RMD, recently announced that actress
Ego Boyo and himself will co-star in a new family show,
Mr X Family Show.
While hinting on their comeback, RMD said:
“My journey with Ego Boyo started nearly 30 years ago, our first encounter being on the production of ‘Checkmate’ when my dear friend, Amaka Igwe pulled me in as the villain Segun Kadiri on the highly coveted TV series.”
A long time coming
The two actors worked together on the set of TV series
Checkmate where they played Segun Kadiri and Ann Hathrope, and later on the set of the 1996 romantic drama film,
Violated, as Tega and Peggy. Both productions were directed by the late Amaka Igwe.
They soon became Nigerian TV sweethearts. Since then, RMD has continued to work on many more movies and other projects outside the film industry, while Ego became a wife, mother and an accomplished entrepreneur, in addition to being the president of the International Women’s Society.
The Mr. X Family Show
The new family show, according to RMD, will take fans of down memory lane as they both return to the screen together for the first time in more than two decades
“Over 25 years later [after violated] Tega and Peggy are back together again on my new TV “DramCom” The Mr X Family Show. I can only hope that getting back together again on TV will tickle fans of Ann Hathrope and Segun Kadiri and the fans of Tega and Peggy who have been craving to have them grace their TV screens again. Ego and I are pretty excited about this and hope the excitement catches on.”
